Overview

 This four-credit course introduces students to the debates on international political economy from both theoretical and empirical perspectives. It intends to help mid-level undergraduates to develop a comprehensive understanding of, and learn sophisticated analytical approaches to, the current issues in international political economy.

The lectures cover, inter alia, theories of international political economy, analytical approaches to international political economy, multinational production, international trade, international monetary and financial systems, international aid and development, regional cooperation, environmental protection, immigration, as well as globalization and its consequences.

Based on pre-assigned reading materials, every students is invited to work on a group presentation on one of the thematic topics covered in the second half of the course (between Week 6 and 13). Towards the end of term, students are required to write essays on the topics covered by the course. The evaluation is based on class attendance, group presentation, and in-class test.
